Before joining Goosmann, Bruce Smith served as Senior Counsel at IBP, Inc., formerly known as Iowa Beef Processors, Inc., now Tyson Fresh Meats, based in Dakota Dunes, South Dakota, for over ten years. Bruce worked at Beef Products Inc., headquartered in Dakota Dunes, South Dakota, for five years serving as Senior Counsel and Director of Environmental, Health and Safety.
Bruce has extensive knowledge on OSHA Process Safety Management and EPA Risk Management Plans including regulatory compliance involving hazardous chemicals. He also has experience representing companies before federal and state agencies of government involving environmental, health and safety matters, EEOC, Wage & Hour, USDA, FAA, FDA and other agencies.

Cornhuskers - one of Bruce’s favorite topics to discuss outside of triple jeopardy and OSHA safety laws. Bruce is an avid Nebraska Cornhuskers fan, it’s no surprise he went to University of Lincoln for law school. Fall football season is one of his favorite times of the year! Another fun fact about Bruce is that he was a pianist and produced albums with his composed music – he did all this just as a hobby! Aside from being a lawyer, Husker fan, and pianist, Bruce is a grandfather and loves spending time with his family.
