Breandan received his Juris Doctor at one of the top law schools in the nation on the east coast, the University of Virginia School of Law. While attending law school, Breandan was an editorial board member for the Virginia Journal of Law and Technology. He also participated in the school’s elder law clinic designed to help individuals with low means create a plan to provide them peace of mind. Prior to joining the Goosmann Trust Law Counsel, Breandan did a legal fellowship in Omaha, Nebraska at the Nebraska Methodist Health System.

Breandan is an active member of the American Bar Association’s Real Property Trust & Estate Law Section, the Iowa State Bar Association’s Probate, Trust & Estate Planning Section and Taxation Section, the Nebraska State Bar Association, the National Association of Estate Planners and Councils, Siouxland Estate Planning Council, Sioux Falls Estate Planning Council, Prairie Family Business Association, Iowa Trust Association, South Dakota Trust Association, WealthCounsel®, and is President of the board for Sculpt Siouxland.

Breandan was interested in becoming an estate planning attorney because he has always gravitated to the cooperative aspects of law. “Estate planning in particular reaches out to me because I can feel the practical, day-to-day benefit the process has on those I assist; it is measurable in a way beyond just helping families cope with the rules and laws out there. Through the planning process, I regularly work with new and diverse people, each individual and family bringing their own circumstances, values, and goals to the process. This exposure to new perspectives and issues keeps the work exciting, and at the end of the day, there is a feeling of a good deed done when I help someone with their unique concerns in planning for the future,” says Breandan.

Breandan’s “Why”

In Breandan’s free time he enjoys running, taekwondo, and spending time with family. He is a taekwondo black belt and a habitual consumer of fantasy literature, horror movies, and college football. He is a huge fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers and can be found watching all the games during football season. Fun fact about Breandan – he comes from an artistic family with his sister being a professional dancer and his father, a wildlife artist. Breandan also has an appreciation for the arts as President of the board for Sculpt Siouxland, a non-profit organization of community leaders who are dedicated to engaging and educating the public on the potential of art in public spaces. Another interesting fact about Breandan is that he is a wannabe lexicologist. A lexicologist is someone who studies the formation, meaning, and use of words – probably wouldn’t want to play scrabble against Breandan!
