Jeana Goosmann, CEO & Managing Partner of the Goosmann Law Firm, is pleased to announce that Maurice Johnson who has served as Of Counsel for Goosmann Law Firm since 2018 has joined the firm full-time at their Omaha location.
Johnson has over 27 years’ experience in federal Indian and tribal law and was an Associate Judge of the Meskwaki Tribal Court. He has represented clients in numerous settings including business, real estate, gaming, employment, regulatory, municipal, telecom, arbitrations, mediations, tribal, state, and federal civil courts.
Johnson has served as the Attorney General for the Omaha Tribe of Nebraska, in which he and a team of attorneys successfully represented the Tribe before the U.S. Supreme Court in a case involving Reservation Diminishment. His experience also includes being Attorney General for the Sac & Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa representing the tribal government and its business including the Meskwaki Casino.
Johnson received his Juris Doctor from Creighton University School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He is licensed to practice in Nebraska and Iowa.
