Messineo is a litigation attorney who works with clients in a wide range of industries to protect their assets and business models from breaches of contracts, claims in litigation and undue regulatory burdens.
Messineo was Co-counsel for the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe in the internationally reported on Dakota Access Pipeline case. In this matter he worked closely with counsel for the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe to challenge the United States Army Corps of Engineer’s decision to grant permits allowing the construction of the pipeline over land and waters sacred to Native American tribes. This included the assertion of rights protected by the federal Religious Freedom Restoration Act. He was also an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Arizona in enforcement of the 1998 Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement which settled forty-six states’ claims against Big Tobacco for injuries caused to millions of persons due to smoking.
Messineo received his Juris Doctorate from Creighton University. He is licensed to practice in Nebraska, Iowa, Arizona, U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, U.S. 10th Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Federal Court of Claims.
